01 — Two different destinations
Southampton Airport is not the cruise port
Southampton Airport is at Eastleigh, north-east of central Southampton. The cruise terminals sit in the port area. Each needs its own address because the final approach and passenger meeting differ. We confirm whether the journey is for a flight or a sailing. An airport booking needs the flight, airline timing and agreed terminal-side instruction. A cruise booking needs the ship, embarkation date, named terminal and allocated arrival window. If the day links both, we record each place as a separate stop in the itinerary. For a departure, collection timing begins with the passenger's requested terminal arrival and scheduled take-off. The full home, hotel, office or station address determines the opening leg, while passenger numbers and luggage determine how long should be allowed for loading and set-down. The chauffeur follows current signs to the terminal's landside drop-off. Airline check-in and security remain separate from the road journey, so the target arrival follows the carrier's guidance. We record any mobility or luggage assistance needed at the kerb.
02 — Meet and greet
The arrivals sequence at Southampton Airport
- Movement timing is checked before dispatch.
- The recorded landside meeting instruction is followed.
- Passenger and chauffeur meet at the agreed point.
- Luggage boards before the onward address is confirmed.

03 — The passenger handover
One instruction reaches the onward car
Passenger, meeting point, luggage and onward address remain together through the landside handover.
04 — Road approaches
M3 and A34 planning from Berkshire
From central Reading, one practical route runs south on the A33 towards Basingstoke before joining the M3. Collections from Newbury or western Berkshire may approach via the A34 towards Winchester and then connect with the M3. The best choice depends on the exact address and conditions on the day. A Basingstoke pickup reaches the southbound M3 more directly, though local traffic still affects the start. Near Southampton, the airport approach separates from traffic continuing towards the docks. The chauffeur follows the final turn for Eastleigh and leaves the port-bound flow. For a booked airport arrival, flight tracking supports vehicle timing if the aircraft lands early or late. Airport meet and greet with a name board gives the passenger an identifiable contact at the public location stated in the booking. The terminal process must still allow time for disembarkation, baggage and any border formalities. The passenger mobile should be switched on when practical after landing. If somebody else is managing the booking, provide that organiser's number as well without replacing the traveller's contact. A clear meeting note is especially important when an arriving passenger is unfamiliar with Eastleigh or continues directly to a cruise hotel.

07 — Connecting with a cruise
Airport, hotel and named port terminal
A flight arrival can continue to a Southampton hotel or a cruise terminal, but the connection needs its own allowance. Ocean, Mayflower, City, QEII and Horizon are distinct cruise destinations, and we use the latest joining documents for the sailing. The terminal stated for the sailing governs the chauffeur's destination. Same-day air-to-cruise travel should include the flight arrival, expected terminal processing, road transfer and allocated embarkation window. Where those timings are tight, the risk should be identified before booking. An overnight hotel may create a more resilient plan, but the decision belongs to the traveller and their sailing arrangements. A return from the airport, a post-cruise collection and a transfer between the two locations each need separate instructions. The booking records the correct date, pickup point, passenger contact and final address for every sector. Disembarkation timing should not be copied from an airport arrival, because leaving a ship follows a different passenger process. Business Estate and XL are practical choices for cruise cases and larger flight loads. Cruise cases, flight bags, mobility equipment and specialist items should all be counted before vehicle selection. Journey cost confirmed at booking is based on the agreed route and load, including any hotel or station call included in advance.
