Railway station guides

Meet your chauffeur at the right station point

Choose the named station and side, then save the exit, meeting landmark, set-down and delayed-train plan before travel.

01 — Before the train

Choose the station, exit and street side

A station name is only the beginning of a useful chauffeur meeting instruction. Reading has north and south approaches, Woking has entrances on both sides of the railway, and London's termini can open onto several streets or concourse levels. These guides identify one public landmark where passenger and chauffeur can meet, a lawful departures set-down, the general waiting rule and the message sent as the car approaches. Taxi ranks remain for vehicles authorised to use them, so a pre-booked chauffeur may wait elsewhere and walk the passenger to the car after contact.

Send the train service, scheduled arrival, passenger mobile, group size, luggage and complete onward address. Where the operator publishes live running times, FCET follows the booked service and adjusts the collection plan for a reported delay. The passenger still texts after leaving the platform because running data cannot show when one traveller has reached the concourse. Where usable running information is not published, the passenger's message supplies the update. For departures, the car unloads at the permitted station side and the passenger follows station signs towards the platform or Eurostar check-in.

02 — Arrivals and departures

Keep the concourse meeting separate from the car

For an arrival, the first commitment is the public meeting landmark. Passenger and chauffeur confirm names and the onward address there, then continue to the vehicle together. The car may be in station parking, a permitted short-stay bay or another lawful street nearby. It is not assumed to remain in a departures set-down or taxi-only rank while the passenger walks from the platform. The approach message joins those stages by naming the station side, vehicle and any short walk after the greeting.

For a departure, the booking records when the passenger wants to reach the station, not only the train time. The chauffeur unloads the agreed luggage and points the passenger towards the public entrance. At St Pancras, the walk continues through the concourse towards Eurostar check-in; at other stations it continues to the main-line gateline and displayed platform. Journey links on each guide show planning miles and minutes to airports, central London or FCET's local towns. Traffic and the final address can change those guides, so the complete itinerary remains the basis of confirmation.
